Bernard Bullen was born in Madrid, with a British father, which gave him a British passport and a bilingual education. That would be the greatest gift of life, as it would mark his life and his subsequent international career as an adult.
He studied Art History at the faculty of Madrid when a photographer approached him to start working for a modeling agency.
He worked for 3 years as a business model in Spain and other European countries but acting was always his passion, and even when he went to the dramatic art school with the prestigious Argentine teacher Claudia Fres, it was already very clear that this was his way.
While studying at the acting school, he auditioned for the professional theater company TAMUR Theater, for the lead role in “Fuenteovejuna”, touring the main theaters in Spain.
He continued his theatrical training and his professional career for a few more years, while he continued modeling.
In 2005, being a client of Ruth Franco (still today his agent in Spain) he made his first work in television, the hit series “Amar en tiempos revueltos”. Then other popular television programs followed but his international career was already calling and he soon realized that he had to try.
In 2009, after finishing his 3-year contract in the program “Hola, ¿qué tal?”, a Spanish course for RTVE, he moved to London, where he lived for 6 years and trained at the prestigious Central School of Speech and drama. He worked on the feature film “Le Capital”, by the French director Costa Gavras, on the Welsh comedy series “Sombreros” and on “Midsommer Murders”.
Based in London and already as an international actor, his career began to expand to other countries. “Squadra Antimafia” (Italy) made him speak Italian fluently and work in that market, and “La Promesa” (Colombia), in which he played the role of Javier, became one of his most important works in acting and In his personal life.
In 2014 he decided to go to Los Angeles and make a showcase for agents and managers. That gave him the sponsors he needed to start working in the US.
In 2015 he moved to Los Angeles demonstrating that it was the right way to pursue and pursue a dream that he never thought would happen… to be a television and film actor in the United States.
In 2018 he had already worked for the shows “Jane the virgin”, “Deep Time History”, “Studio City Kings 2” and “The Last Ship” of the TNT, where he had a juicy recurring role, appearing in two episodes of the seventh season.
His feature films include “The Love Witch” and “Best Mom” (winner of 2 awards at the Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival).
In “Coyote” he gave life to a Mexican stowaway, in “Caretakers” a terrorist from the Middle East and later came the comedy filmed in Spanish “¡He matado a mi marido!”, where he played Kike, an extravagant and fun role , his first character as Spanish in the United States, and he did it alongside stars such as María Conchita Alonso, Assumpta Serna, Gaby Espino, Alicia Machado and Eduardo Yáñez, among others.
The film premiered, in Spanish and subtitled in English, on March 1, 2019 in LA, with great public and critic success, staying for a month in cinemas throughout California.
In February 2019 he received a call from his agent in LA telling him that he had landed a role in the Disney mega-production “The Mandalorian” (*), a Disney series located in the Star Wars universe.
In it he plays the character of the protagonist’s father, in flashbacks when Din Djarin is a boy. A character with a very strong dramatic load and that shows that Bernard is capable of doing both drama and comedy.
But his great leap to television made it in 2019 with the production of Telemundo “Betty en NY” (**), the most recent version of “Yo soy Betty, la fea”.
Bernard joined the cast, headed by Elyfer Torres and Erick Elías, with a very important character in the story, the Spanish designer Joaquín de Quiroz.
The series began airing in February 2019, with very large ratings, being one of the series with the most ratings in the USA. It was a great opportunity for him as a Spaniard since he opened the doors to the Latin market, the United States and the international.
